Map Design
Group Project . Illustration . July2023
I volunteered as part of the illustration team for the third edition of "Buds, Branches, and Bark: A Guide to Winter ID in the Pacific Northwest." In this role, I illustrated various plants and created some detailed site maps from scratch, depicting different areas of Vancouver. My primary responsibility was designing three maps of the BCIT Burnaby campus, focusing on specific vegetation locations.
Working with a team of 10 designers and our director, we completed the project in Adobe Illustrator, from icon creation to site mapping. Our work received international recognition, winning a global Open Education Award for Excellence in the Open Pedagogy category.

Specific guidelines were followed, developed collaboratively through meetings, with colors chosen from the guidebook or elective options, and icons designed according to each plant's specifications.
